End of Summer Session!

Today was the last day of summer school! Yea – I am glad it is over. The classes were all review and I’m ready to move on to the new stuff! My final presentation went well and I’ll know my final grade in a couple of weeks. Today after class we went and found my internship. It’s on 5th avenue right next to Central Park. I’ll have to take a bus to get there and it takes about 30 minutes, but it’s not too bad of a commute.

Last night we decided to go on a little date. It was Bill’s responsibility to find the restaurant and we ended up at “Duke’s.” Duke’s was a restaurant that was a stereotype of the South. They had good food and the waitresses were dressed like “white trash.” It was fun!

Making the Grade

Well, I got my first graded assignment back today and I made an “A”! I was excited! My Professor said that she like the way I made my points and laid out my paper. (Thank you Ms. Robbs – I really hate to say that!) I also made an “A” on the presentation part.

On another note our IKEA furniture is suppose to be delivered today. I can’t wait. It will be so nice to finally finish unpacking.

1. Go to www.wordpress.com

2. Sign Up (Create a username and password, Check the box that says you only want a username – it’s the second option. If you would like to start your own blog you can pick the first one.)

3. Go to your “Dashboard” which is in the upper left corner. And pick profile. On this page you can upload a picture to appear beside your name.

I think for it to be beside your name you will have to log in before you write comments. Hope that helps and doesn’t sound too confusing. If it does – call Bill and he can help you! (Don’t tell him I said to call him!)

The shock has worn off and reality has hit! We are moving to New York City in a mere 3 months! There is a ton of stuff to do – sell our stuff, go to NYC and find an apartment, find jobs, pack, make plans for PepperAnn and Winston, figure out financial aid, figure out class schedule and the list goes on and on!

I participated in an on-line chat for admitted students and found out that two Belmont students are also attending Columbia in the fall. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get together before heading to NYC.

Acceptance

Columbia University School of Social Work

Last Wednesday, March 27, I found out I was accepted to Columbia University! I was talking to my Mom on the phone and checking my email when I got the email saying that my acceptance decision was ready to be viewed online. It felt like it took me 10 years to access my account but finally I saw the letter that said I had been accepted! I started screaming and crying and could hardly tell my Mom that I had gotten in. It was so exciting! I then called Bill and everyone I know to tell them the great news!

So, now in a mere three months we will be moving to New York City! We have a lot to do in a short time like finding affordable housing in a safe neighborhood, Bill finding a job, orientation, and selling everything we won’t have room for like my car! We are really jazzed about moving and fulfilling some of our dreams!
