Snow Day!

Yesterday afternoon it started to snow and we got about 2-3 inches at our house. We took Will out for a few minutes yesterday but it was so windy we couldn’t stay out for long. This afternoon Bill took him out for a little bit more fun in the snow. Enjoy!

New York City: 2010

We have had a busy couple of weeks around here – full of fun! So, this week on the blog I’m going to be playing catch up and including New York City, Halloween and Will’s birthday party!

Last Saturday – Tuesday we went to NYC to visit friends and have fun. Honey went with us too! Will was overwhelmed and amazed by all the transportation we took – bus, airplane, taxi, train (subway). He even learned how to hail a taxi – it was ridiculously cute.

Bill and Will watching the airplanes.

Nashville wins for the most “kid friendly” airport. There was a playground right across from our gate!

We ate dinner at a pizza place right under the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a great view and the pizza was delicious.

The Manhattan skyline from Brooklyn.

We went to Apostles church Sunday Morning and then ate lunch at a thai restaurant on the Upper East Side.

Will was super excited when we got to Times Square. Can you tell?!?!

After lunch Bill and I went and saw the matinee performance of Memphis on Broadway. It was really good. While we were at the show Will and Honey spent an hour at Toys R Us in Times Square, window shopped several places and then walked back to our hotel.

After the show we ate dinner at P.J. Clark’s. We sat in a closet practically and it was so dark they had to bring us candles so we could see. Will blew out the candles as soon as the waitress sat them down :) Will doesn’t care where he is as long as there’s a truck and a bump bump. He was playing on the sidewalk as we waited for a table at P.J. Clark’s.

We woke up early Monday morning and went to the Today Show.

You might recognize these two from their national TV debut! Al talked to them before doing the weather at the top of the 8:00 hour.

After the Today show we went to Central Park where Bill and Will climbed to the “top of the rock.”

Will throwing coins into Bathesda Fountain.

After walking around Central Park for a while, we let Will play on the playground. He loved going down all the slides but he wasn’t patient enough to wait in line to swing. Monday afternoon we went to Columbia’s bookstore, shopping in Herald Square and Chinatown. It was a busy day!

Monday night we had dinner with our friends the Sholes’ and Mason’s. James is 8 months older than Will and they a great time playing with each other.

James and Will sitting on James’ big boy bed laughing and screaming as loud as they could.

A couple of mornings we ate at a grocery across the street from our hotel. They had a good, inexpensive breakfast and Will had pancakes, bacon & banana. Our last stop before leaving the city was Books of Wonder where we picked up a signed copy of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day.

We had a great trip! Who wants to go with us next time?

Pigeon Forge

This past week/weekend we headed to Pigeon Forge with Nonny and PawPaw for a few days of  fun and relaxation. The week started off on a nasty note with both me and Will having a stomach virus but thankfully we were all better by time to leave on Thursday.  We had a lot of fun and here are the pictures(all but one taken by Gayle) to prove it!

Will is ready to get this vacation started!

The condo we stayed at was really nice and had a great pool.

Swimming with PawPaw.

The condo even had a lazy river!

On Saturday we went to Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. It was a lot of fun and Will really enjoyed looking at all the fish.

PawPaw, Will, Nonny and the diver. Can you see the diver in the water?

Will touched a horseshoe crab. He’s such a boy – not grossed out by anything!

Mommy, Will & Daddy in front of the shark jaw.

On Saturday we went to DollyWood’s Splash Country. We all loved it!

Will LOVED the water slides and went down them about 100 times.

We all had to take turns taking him down all day long.

More water slide fun.

The condo had a huge jacuzzi tub and Will enjoyed swimming in it too.

The view from our condo. Thank you for a great time PawPaw and Nonny!

Happy Father’s Day

Better late than never, right?!?! We spent the weekend in Chattanooga hanging out with our families and eating really good food. On Saturday we planned to spend the day on lake but it rained that morning so me, my Mom and Nicole sat on the couch for about 45 minutes saying every name we could think of for the baby. It was fun and a bit ridiculous!

This is my favorite picture of Bill & Will. Look at what a proud Daddy he is! And I am so proud of him.

Easter Egg Hunts Galore

Today was full of Easter egg hunts! But the festivities really began yesterday morning. Before leaving for Chattanooga we gave Will an Easter basket full of goodies – a few new books and some animal crackers. He was a big fan of the new books!

This morning we went to an egg hunt at the Stansell’s house. Carey was my best friend growing up and it a lot of fun to see our 2 boys playing together now! We took the morning as opportunity to teach them both about sharing….. maybe they’ll understand the concept by next Easter :) There were 3 boys there for the egg hunt and they were so cute. Andrew was a pro! He would pick up an egg, eat the candy out of it and put it in his basket. Micah ran all over the yard – looking for balls and other fun stuff to get into. Will would pick up an egg and put it in his basket if I was holding it but soon got distracted by the tractor.

Tonight the Dixon family got together and of course there were more Easter goodies and more egg hunting! Aubrey raced around the yard finding “a million” eggs and Will grabbed up a few too. Then the cousins got to enjoy playing outside together for a little while.

We made over 70 pictures and I wanted to upload them all! But, I thought that might be a bit much so here are about 30 of my favorites :)

Snowed In………..

We’re snowed in here in Nashville! Ok, if we REALLY needed to go somewhere I guess we could brave it but we have about 5 inches of snow on the ground and a layer of ice on top. We didn’t go out yesterday when it was snowing and today it was too icy to build a snowman or throw a snowball. We got some cute pictures as we walked up and down the street! (I tried to make a slideshow of all the pictures but couldn’t get it to work right! Maybe later.)

Snow Fun

This past weekend we have been “snowed in” here in Tennessee!! Well, not really but school did get canceled for two days, we got maybe an inch of snow over three days and we have all been affectionately calling it the Blizzard of 2010. :) Enjoy these pictures of us playing in the snow. And don’t forget to leave a comment HERE to help me win a ticket to a blog conference :)

This is so fun!

My guess is that he’s trying to catch a snowflake on his tongue.

Be careful  – it’s slippery!

PepperAnn liked playing in the snow too.

Such a sweet boy :)

Fun time in the snow – can we do this again tomorrow?!?!

Friday Four: 2010 New Year Goals

Each year Bill and I set goals in six categories: career, financial, spiritual, intellectual, physical and family. We started doing this when Bill worked for Dave Ramsey and these are the categories and advice that Dave gave. You can have more than 1 goal per category but of course you don’t want to overwhelm yourself. Each goal should be written down, be specific, measurable and have a time limit. Like Dave says, “You have to be intentional with your life…”

So, here are FOUR of my 2010 goals:

Spiritual: Begin to teach Will about our Lord and Savior by reading to him out of his children’s Bible and singing songs about the Lord at least 3 times per week.

Intellectual: This year I am going to learn how to knit. I am going to learn how to knit and purl and make a scarf. Goal Date: April 1

Physical: My goal is to get 30 minutes of exercise at least 2 times a week. I will accomplish this by walking, biking or doing an exercise video. Goal Date: May 1, 2010

Career: Technically, I don’t currently have a career so I will consider my blog my “job.” My goal is to post at least 4 times each week. Keep me accountable on this one!

So, what are some of your New Year goals? I would love to know. They can be simple like mine or more meaningful or detailed really just whatever works best  for you! If you have a blog you can link your Friday Four New Year Goals using the McLinky below and if you don’t have a blog post four of your New Year Goals in the comment section.
