Government Bailout Alternative
For those of you who don’t believe that the government bailout is a good thing – here is an alternative to send to your Congressmen. The only solution can not be to go in to even more debt as a country – I mean, when has going into debt ever been a solution to anything!
This is Dave Ramsey’s “Common Sense Fix” to the current economic crisis. Click on the link to read more about it. Forward it to your friends, family, co-workers and Congressmen. Obviously, the representatives in Washington are listening to the people – or the bailout would have already passed.

AC Update
I’m going to put the AC update on babydixon although it’s not directly related to babydixon!
To calm your fears – yes, our air conditioner is still under warranty. Don’t worry we would never pay if we didn’t have to – or be tricked into paying.
My genius husband remembered that we had our window AC from NYC in the garage so today after church he put it in the living room window. It looks a little “redneck” rigged up from the back of the house but it’s keeping us considerably cooler.

What a Day….
I guess you could call yesterday a pretty bad day. If we were high maintenance or generally uptighgt people it would have been a lot worse so it’s a good thing that we’re so laid back.
I haven’t been to work since Tuesday because I have been sick. It’s just a cold but when you can’t really do anything about it – it really stinks. I feel much better today so I think I’m finally getting over it. I thought I felt better yesterday so I went in to work to get the Sunday morning things ready but only stayed for an hour before coming back home and crawling into bed.
Then, when I was sleeping yesterday afternoon I got really, really hot. I thought it might just be because I was in the bedroom and the afternoon sun was coming in. But in reality, our air conditioner had stopped working! This was about 4:30 – and Bill called the AC company and told them what had happened. The AC had stopped working and even the display was blank. The man from the AC company said that they had a weekend repairman but it was really only for emergencies – would it be ok if they sent someone out Monday? Bill kindly replied, normally that would be fine but I have a very pregnant wife. Before Bill could even finish saying this the AC man said – oh man! I’ll send our guy out this afternoon!
The AC repairman came but he couldn’t fix the problem because they had to order a part. The AC unit is getting electricity but then the circuit board or something is not working. So, we’re without AC until at least Monday
It wasn’t too bad last night – I got a little warm a couple of times but nothing too uncomfortable.
The bright spot of the evening is that we went and ate dinner at Chili’s! Yum! I convinced Bill that we should go somewhere with AC for dinner and that using the oven would make our house too hot ![]()

Congratulations!
I think Brian Williams summed it up nicely in his opening of the NBC Nightly News Wednesday night – “Good Evening and congratulations you are all now owners of an international insurance conglomeration.”
In case you’ve had your head under a rock he was talking about the federal government bailing out yet another financial company – AIG. This time the federal reserve loaned AIG $85 billion and took over 80% of the stock (if I’m remembering correctly). So, basically we the taxpayers now own AIG. But I’m having a hard time figuring out exactly how this is going to benefit me. All I can figure out is that it’s not.
They are going to use my tax dollars to bail out a failing company and then when the company recuperates and is making trillions of dollars again – I’m pretty sure I won’t be seeing any of that money. Maybe I’ll start a business, make risky investments, and loan money to people who have no way of paying it back and then let the government bail me out
I am also confused about why everyone thinks it is such a great idea for the treasury and the world banks to pump about $180 billion in new money into the economy. It’s not going to help the everyday people. We are still going to bring home the same amount in our paychecks but everything will cost more!
In case you can’t tell – this financial thing has really gotten under my skin! I’ve been reading all about it and for the life of me can’t figure out why government bail-out is a good thing. I have been living under the impression for the past 24 years that America operated in a free market economy and democracy – not socialism.

Bedroom Furniture
Tonight Bill and I bought some new bedroom furniture. It is the furniture in the picture – except we didn’t get the armoire, we got a chest of drawers instead. We have been looking at this set since we moved and finally decided to take the plunge. We can’t wait for it to be delivered next week!
We also got some large blank canvases for the living room. Now Billhas to decide what colors to use and create us some abstract art. If it has been a couple of weeks since you’ve been here – you won’t recognize this place when you come back!

The Piano Is Tuned
Yesterday after work, I sat down at the piano and played a few tunes. I’m a bit rusty but it was fun! My Mom always said that one day I would be thankful that she made me take piano lessons. She was right. Thanks Mom!
It took the “piano man” a little over 2 hours to get the piano in working order. But, he said it was not the worst piano he has ever worked on – not even close!
Bill has been practicing away – learning his notes and finger positions. He can even play a couple of songs in the “Performance” book.
He will probably be better than me in no time.
I want to get a music book of lullabies or baby tunes so I can play them for Will!

Happy Cow Appreciation Day!
Sorry if you missed out on Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A! Today if you dressed like a cow from head to hoof you got a free meal. If you only went as a partial cow you got a free sandwich. So, I went twice! Once for lunch and once for dinner.
At lunch, I went with a group of about 15 students. We were all dressed like cows. It was so much fun. Then, when I got home from work Bill and I went.
Our costumes were really cute! I took our white bathrobes and taped black spots all over them. Then, I made cow masks with card stock and yarn. Pictures to come soon ![]()

Ichiban – April 17
Here is the plan – we are going to eat dinner at Ichiban when we get into Chattanooga on April 17. We are scheduled to get to Chattanooga around 6 pm. Probably eat around 7.
So, put it on your calendar if you would like to join us. Let us know too – that way we can make a reservation – if they take reservations.
