Face of Betrayal by Lis Wiehl with April Henry
Face of Betrayal is a “triple threat” that packs mystery, romance and justice. Seventeen year old, Katie Converse, goes missing a few days before Christmas. She is home in Oregon after a semester of being a U.S. Senate page. The clues all point to Senator X but who is he? And is he really innocent?
It’s up to the triple threat club to uncover the truth and bring the perpetrator to justice. Allison Pierce is a third generation federal prosecutor and bringing the bad guys to justice is in her blood.Cassidy Shaw is a TV crime reporter looking for her big break. And Nicole Hedges is an FBI special agent who is trying to balance a grueling work schedule with being a single mom. Together, these three friends make up the triple threat club.
Face of Betrayal is great – I finished it in one night! The characters are very well developed and three dimensional. You don’t just know their jobs but their families, personal lives, faith, struggles, even what they like to eat. The story is intriguing. It keeps you guessing until the very last page. I can’t wait until the second book in the series comes out in April 2010.

Free Books
I was organizing our bookshelves the other day – in anticipation of getting a box of my books back from Kalah. She cared for and read them while we were in NYC. There were a few books that we have 2 or 3 copies of! Please, don’t ask how – we just do. So, if you want one or all of them let me know by leaving a comment and I’ll get it to sometime soon.
The Man God Uses – Bible Study by Henry & Tom Blackaby (2 Copies)
My Utmost for His Highest – By Oswald Chambers (2 Copies)
Devotions for Dating Couples – By Ben Young & Dr. Samuel Adams
Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ – By John Piper
The Power of a Praying Husband – By Stormie OMartian
Wild at Heart – By John Eldredge
The Cross Examination of Oliver Finney – By Randy Singer (Christian Fiction)
Pops and Mamaw – By Jerry Smith (2 copies 1 copy left) (My old friend who wrote a book about himself. Somehow I ended up with SEVERAL copies!)
I hope someone wants these! I was going to take them to McKay’s but then I figured they wouldn’t value them as much as I do. Therefore, I decided it would make me feel better to give them away to someone I know will take good care of them! I’m weird but I love books!

“The Mole People”
This week Bill and I read the book “The Mole People” by Jennifer Toth. It was very interesting! It is a reporter’s story as she investigated the underground homeless – the people who live in subway and Amtrak tunnels. Some of the tunnels are 7 -8 stories underground. It was a very eye opening book – something we had never thought about before. She tells the life stories of several of the people she met underground. She went underground everyday for several months to see how these people live and try to understand why they are there. Most of the people who live underground are drug addicts or have diseases, like AIDS.
