Walt Disney World: Magic Kingdom

We had SO much fun in Disney World last week! We left late Friday afternoon in between the storms and drove a little over half way to Orlando, then drove a few more hours Saturday morning and had all afternoon in the Magic Kingdom. We went to the Magic Kingdom several days during our trip for a few hours then spent all day Wednesday there. It’s the best park for toddlers since there are so many rides they are “big enough” to ride and lots of characters to meet.

As soon as we walked through the gate we met Pinocchio.

We got there just in time to see the afternoon parade. It was so much fun! Bill & I love the parades and the boys really enjoyed the first one but they weren’t too into it the rest of the week.

This smile did not leave his face all week. During this parade Captain Hook came over and shook Will’s hand and twisted his hat. It was such a big deal because Capt. Hook is Will’s absolute favorite character {other than the crocodile}. I might have cried and it might have been ugly.

You might have guessed that Peter Pan is Will’s favorite movie so naturally, Peter Pan’s Flight was one of his favorite rides. He was able to ride it 3 times. It’s such a simple ride – nothing too fancy – yet it’s line was always almost an hour long. {Whoever invented the “Fast Pass” is my best friend.}

Another one of Will’s favorites was the Speedway in Tomorrowland. He LOVED driving all by himself. He  rode this 3 times in a row {twice with Daddy; once with Mommy} because the line was so short and because we were waiting for our Fast Pass time for Space Mountain {my favorite Magic Kingdom ride!}

Another family favorite was the Winnie the Pooh ride. They had a fun play area that looked like Rabbit’s garden  for the kids while the adults waited in line nearby. It also had wall of flowing honey that you could “wipe away” and see characters underneath. On several rides Will asked us if we were in heaven. I think he was having a good time!

Thomas is showing off his new Disney hat with Honey.

We did several things on this trip that we had never done before – like going over to Tom Sawyer’s Island. There’s not really anything “to do” over there but run and have fun. Which is something Will needed to do every day. He and Honey went on the “shake shake” bridge about 6 times.

You can’t go to the Magic Kingdom without meeting the main mouse!

Will was so excited each and every time he got to see Mickey.

Will had earned quite a bit of spending money and he got right to spending it our first day at Disney. His friend Javen had gotten a really cool baseball hat with Mickey ears and he definitely wanted one like it. He had also gotten for Christmas some Disney stuffed animals {from the Dollar General} and wanted to complete his collection with Daisy Duck and Pluto. He loves to play “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” with his now complete cast.

I’m not going to lie -this was the exact moment I had been looking forward to all week! I used my last snack credit to get a cookie ice cream sandwich from the Main Street Bakery and ate it while watching the “Dreams Come True” show in front of Cinderella’s Castle.

The last night we stayed to watch the Wishes Nighttime Spectacular Fireworks. {We were at the very front near the castle and about halfway through Will said he needed to use the bathroom. So, I’m sorry if I stepped on your hand, foot, leg, head or other body part trying to get him to the bathroom. Just be grateful he didn’t have an accident and instead of being stepped on you were getting peed on!}

    I scrolled down and looked at them all, I know that was a lot of fun. Now I can understand where Thomas gets his love of food.——Tell the truth, did “Honey” eat an ice cream cookie too?
