The County Fair

Sunday evening we headed out to the Williamson County Fair. I had heard it was great and was not disappointed! We had a great night together which ended up being perfect timing since Bill’s job has required a lot of hours this week and the boys and I will be gone next weekend.

First stop was the donkey competition. Let’s just say that donkey’s are not the most compliant creatures, I’m not sure any of them did what they were suppose to do :)

Up next, the Little 1’s Farm. This exhibit was SO awesome. I kind of wanted to do it again, and again and again!

First, you had to put on your apron, get your bucket and “harvest” some corn kernels. Second, Will headed to the chicken house and fed the chickens some corn and got an egg to put in his basket.

After feeding the chickens it was time to pick an apple and put it in your basket.

After taking care of the produce Will had to groom his sheep and put the collected wool in his basket.

Taking a break from all the hard work on the tractor. After his break Will had to bury some of his corn in order to grow someĀ  vegetables. He gathered a potato, bell pepper & tomato.

A farmer’s work is never done! It’s time to feed and milk the cow.

Last, he sold his fruits, vegetables and milk at the Farmer’s Market. He earned some money (in his right hand) and was very proud of himself!

He spent his money on animal crackers and milk. A good choice farmer, Will! After his snack and getting a bunny rabbit balloon we headed towards the “barnyard.”

There were big boxes of corn to play in – like a sandbox. Will thoroughly enjoyed it.

He petted the sheep.

Everybody touched a cow! I had never touched one before and it was neat. We also saw the cows getting milked and the information they shared was so interesting. It also made me glad I don’t live on a farm since they milk every morning at 5 am!

Thomas thought the farm and animals were great fun.

Of course, Will had to ride some rides! There were a lot of rides for kids his size so he had to choose which ones he wanted to ride. He chose the bumble bees first.

He chose the Merry Go Round with Daddy.

Thomas can’t wait until he’s tall enough to ride the rides.

Will really liked the boat ride – it was his second favorite.

His favorite ride was the caterpillar roller coaster. It made me a little nervous but he jumped right in and had the cheesiest smile on his face the whole ride.

Will whizzing by on the roller coaster.

The last ride that Will chose were the motorcycles.

We all had a great time at the fair!

Have you gone to a fair this year? Do you like them? I really enjoy going to the craft fairs in the fall – for the food, of course! Maybe we’ll make that happen this year.

I love the 1st farm!! What a wonderful idea for children. Now they know their food doesn’t come right from the grocery store. Before Bobby & I were married, he DID own a dairy farm. That is why he was always awake at 4:30 every morning even years later. As for the Fall craft fairs, I love them! Perhaps we can hit a few in this area together this year.

PS — I hope you have a fantastic weekend!!!

I think this idea is wonderful: Fun
activity for the children and educational.
I loved craft fairs: used to go to lots of them.
Cutest little boys: I love them so much! You and Bill are so good at your selection of places to go and things to see with the boys.

This looks like a lot of fun. We don’t get fairs here anymore except the Hamilton County up at chester frost and they make it too hard to get to.
