Thank You Jesus!
We took Will to see his pediatrician this morning as a follow-up to our ER visit. We have had to tell “the story” about 100 times and I will be glad to not have to tell it ever again! It was scary and I don’t like re-living it!
Dr. Swarr checked Will out and when he looked in his throat – he said “I found the answer!” And he looked relieved about it so I think Bill and I took a huge collective sigh. Dr. Swarr diagnosed Will with Coxsackie virus – specifically herpangia (sores in the mouth and throat). This virus also causes hand, foot & mouth disease. The symptoms probably only developed in the past 24 hours which is why they were not able to diagnose it at the ER. This was such a great diagnosis! The “prescription” is Tylenol to keep his temperature down and lots of hugs, kisses and popsicles!
They also believe that the shaking he experienced on Monday night was not a seizure but just a reaction to the virus – riggers (sp?). Thank you Jesus!
Thank you for all your prayers these past 48 hours! They have probably been what has kept us sane the past few days ![]()

Thank the Good Lord! Prayers are answered. I know you and Bill must have been in a living nightmare the past couple of days. I’ve had you on my mind continually and have prayed so much for your family. Will is such a precious addition to our family and a joy to so many. I read the article you linked and it mentioned nausea – do you think when he was throwing-up, it may have been the beginning of this?
I love this dialogue and am glad this turned out to be good news – and not a “Wordless Wednesday”!
My prayers continue for Will’s healing and for the fortitude you & Bill need as parents. I love you.
No, I don’t think the throwing up is related. It was a couple of weeks ago and me, my mom and dad all got sick too.
Yes! I had skip “Wordless” this Wednesday – too much to report and be thankful for!
What a wonderful answer to our prayers. God is so good and merciful to us daily: We thank Him for every blessing each and every day! Our prayers continue for all our family as always! Praise God from Whom All blessings flow!
What a relief! God is good! All the time!
I am so glad to hear it wasn’t anything more serious but when it’s your baby, everything is serious. When Mommy called me, I called several people I knew I could depend on to pray.
We have an awesome God!!
Hey Amber,
Mason has had hand, foot, mouth a couple of times (and so have I). I am guessing it’s pretty similar to the virus Will has. The virus is awful. When I had it I was on a liquid diet for three days the sores in my mouth hurt so bad. I am praying for you guys and hope he gets over it quickly.
Rachel
That sounds plain awful! Will ate “mush” for a day or so but is much better now.
