Present Practice

Everyone knows that practice makes perfect! So, today I let Will practice unwrapping Christmas gifts. I wanted him to at least be familiar with the concept since he doesn’t remember last Christmas and all of his birthday presents were in gift bags. And I have learned to start early since I only let him start practicing blowing out candles a day or two before his birthday party and he was a pro about a week after his birthday party!

Hmmm…….. I wonder this could be?

Slowly but surely getting the paper off. This boy is a true “Dixon” – he handed me every tiny little piece of paper before he attempted to get another piece off!

Surprise!  It’s his 123 New York book – which happens to be his favorite book at the moment.

This box was fun to carry around and he eventually opened it to find an empty Lucky Charms box and he has been playing with it all day long.

Eleven days until Christmas – I think he’s got the present opening down!

I can’t find words to describe what a joy this little fellow is to all of us! He’ll have a ball with his gifts this year! Can’t wait to see all of you again. Take care and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

What a great idea! I’m so glad I have you to steal all my parenting ideas from :) Will is so cute I could just squeeze his cheeks off!

That is brilliant! Did this just occur to you? Some sort of Social Work problem solving brilliance endowed to Columbia graduates? I am so amused.

Will should also get some credit. Perhaps you could get him his own trash can for Christmas morning, so that he can keep things neat.

Please tell your friends that your mother had you practice finding Easter eggs for weeks prior to Easter!

I am certain Will will love everything he gets for Christmas. After all, how bad can anything be after opening an empty box of Lucky Charms!!!!!!!!

Great idea, Amber! I may just have to go and wrap up all of Mason’s toys this weekend. I don’t think he know quite what to do either. :)
