Weekend Project

If you know Bill and me at all – you know that we LOVE to do things around our house. Anything really from decorating to demolition. We have done a lot of decorating the past 6 months and we have now moved on to demolition. In the hallway as you entered our living room there was a cute little nook cut into the wall. So cute, but we have not been able to think of anything to put in it for the past 6 months. Nothing we tried looked good. One day Bill had a wonderful idea for the nook – turn it into a built-in bookcase. Wonderful idea I thought! I have lots of books and not nearly enough room for all of them. Then, I had the best idea I have ever had in my entire life. A bookshelf is awesome but what if it was a bookshelf that hid a secret room!

Our new project is to turn our nook into a sliding bookshelf. There is not as much room behind it as we thought but it is enough to store something so we’re going for it. Plus, how cool is it going to be to have a hidden hideaway. Bill got started this weekend on the demolition part of the project.

Bill starts tearing out the wall – he found a Gatorade bottle.

PepperAnn in the cutout. Ready to start construction on the bookcase – just have to reroute that electrical wire.

A clever idea! Just don’t loose PepperAnn in there someday! She’ll think it is her little “nook”. There is never enough room in a home: the more room you have it seems the more stuff appears. Good Luck on the reconstruction!!!

In this particular moment… you are the coolest person I know. I want a sliding bookshelf/hidden room!

You two are so brave. I would have never dreamed of knocking out a wall in my new house. I hope it all turns out just the way you hoped.

AS I LOOKED AT THESE PICTURES, I HOPED THE HOUSE WASN’T GOING TO CAVE IN —–BUT THAT IS A GOOD IDEA AND YOU HAVE A BRILLIANT HUSBAND.
