The Hunt Is Over

We have found a place to live and are on our way to homeownership!

So, for anyone who knows us well – you know that we don’t buy a candy bar without analyzing the cost of the product, how it relates to our budget, and making sure the candy bar is in optimal condition. But, we are buying a house – the biggest thing we’ll ever buy in our entire lives – without seeing it with our own eyes! We have only seen pictures and heard descriptions from our parents. Good thing we think they have good judgment :) (Well, we hope they good judgment!)

It was a bit of a frustrating process – it seemed to drag out forever (3 whole days)! It was a lot of waiting and I wasn’t too patient about it! Plus, it was an emotional roller coaster and my hormones seemed to be in full swing :) It probably scared Bill! Thank goodness he’s patient and worked out the deal – I was ready to tell them to kiss my a$$ (in the words of my father)!

Now we just have a few details to work out – like which mortgage company to go with, closing date, and how we’re moving our stuff from NYC to Tennessee. We’ll be asking for volunteers to help us unload in Nashville – date TBD :)

Now I can concentrate fully on finishing up the school year – 1.5 weeks left! I think I’ve been operating under Maslow’s hierarchy – how could I concentrate on learning if I didn’t even have a place to live!

And it shouldn’t pass with out notice – yesterday was PepperAnn’s birthday. Happy Birthday PA! She’s four years old and we bought her a house for a present – aren’t we the best parents :)

I know this must be a GREAT relief to the both of you. I’m sure it seemed like “mission-impossible” at times, especially trying to do this long distance. I think you are wonderful parents to think of PepperAnne on her birthday and what a wonderful gift. I’m sure she will be thrilled to have you back in her life full time!!

My main question though– how far to Walmart?

  2. Bill says:

The distance to the Super Walmart is 5.8 miles or about 9 minutes according to Google. A must have for Amber when we were house hunting was a Walmart less than 10 minutes away 😉

  3. Aunt Pam says:

That is great!! And I’m sure it is just the right house for you (even if you didn’t see it). Speaking as a person who will not even buy a dress unless she looks at every other store and tries it on at least three times to make sure she wants it, I must say that sometimes overanalyzing is not always the best way to do things anyway:-) What an exciting time! Can’t wait to see your new digs!!

  4. Karen says:

OK — so when you get to Nashville, are you going to have a “BYOB” party? Before you answer, you should know, in this case it stands for “Bring your own (paint) Brush”!! Sounds like fun to me!!!

  5. SYBIL says:

We are all anxious to hear when you’re having the open house for all of us to come and HELP anyway we can! THis is great news and we are so happy having our little Tennessee family back near us! Pepper Anne will be really glad to make the move! Can’t wait!!!

  6. Mandy says:

So which weekend in June do you want your niece??????

  7. Amber says:

Are you serious?!?!? Is she any good with a paint brush :) We’ll take her any weekend, of course!

  8. Eric says:

Hey Guys, congratulations on finding a house. Where are you guys going to be? It looks like a new subdivision from the pics. Hopefully, you’re close enough to come back to Clearview. Let us know when the move date is and I’ll gather a group from SS to help out.

  9. Julie says:

I don’t know who Eric is but I’m sure I like him! As for Pam’s comment…perhaps we need to go shopping together. We might not get much bought but we would at least see everything twice!

Amber…what language…and “best parents” didn’t even call Pepper Ann on her birthday! But I guess that’s okay…she wasn’t at home…we treated her to a spa day!
